    What Is W-10 Form?

The W-10 Form is the Texas Railroad Commission's monthly production report filed by oil and gas well operators in Texas. It captures oil production, gas production, water production, and disposition data at the well level, and must be submitted for every producing well in the operator's portfolio — typically by the 45th day after the end of each production month.

What Information Does the W-10 Capture?

    • Oil production: Gross barrels produced, barrels sold, and ending inventory
    • Casinghead gas: Gas produced from oil wells, volumes flared, sold, and used on lease
    • Water production: Barrels of produced water generated at the well
    • Well status: Producing, shut-in, or temporarily abandoned
    • Disposition codes: How oil and gas volumes were disposed of (sold, used on lease, flared, vented)

    W-10 Filing Requirements and Deadlines

W-10 reports are due to the TX RRC by the 45th day after the end of each production month. Late filings are subject to penalties. Operators must file a W-10 for every well in their portfolio that produced during the month, as well as for shut-in wells. For large operators managing hundreds or thousands of wells, the monthly W-10 filing process is one of the most labor-intensive regulatory compliance activities.

    Common W-10 Filing Challenges

    • Data reconciliation: Matching production data between SCADA systems, tank gauges, and production accounting software
    • Volume discrepancies: Identifying and resolving differences between internal production records and TX RRC reported volumes
    • Missing data: Handling wells with incomplete gauging records or equipment outages
    • Amendment management: Correcting previously filed W-10s when errors are discovered
    • Scale: Operators with 500+ wells may have thousands of individual well-month records to review and file each month

    How AI Automates W-10 Filings

Collide's regulatory workflow integrates with an operator's existing production data systems, reconciles volumes across data sources, identifies discrepancies before filing, and generates W-10-ready data for TX RRC submission. What previously took field operators and regulatory teams days of manual data entry can be completed in minutes.
